third day...

at my new job and I got to do some clinical stuff...started an IV, gave some drugs...seems like a long time since I've been in this saddle, but it's all coming back to me. I distracted the patient as I started my first IV in about 3-1/2 years...hard stick, first try...pay dirt. I used to be "good" at starting IV's but was worried it would take me a while to get that skill back...
Everyone at The Clinic is nice, seems to appreciate that I'm there--which is always good. Nursing, has always been a good security blanket for me...a job that I've mostly loved and has been easily accessible. Time to go...more later ;)

Hi Loretta,

I just started reading your blog - glad to have found it! It's exciting that you're getting "back in the saddle" with nursing. I hope you enjoy it and continue to settle into it well.

In Christ,
Melissa

Together...

"The life of holiness is the life of faith in which the believer, with a deepening knowledge of his own sin and helplessness apart from Christ, increasingly casts himself upon the Lord, and seeks the power of the Spirit and the wisdom and comfort of the Bible to battle against the world, the flesh and the devil.  It is not a lonely or cheerless struggle for Christ gives the Spirit to the members of his body to help one another."   The Church , Edmund P. Clowney (Pg 89) Just a blurb from one of the ten books on Joe's nightstand this week...not lonely or cheerless---we have the fellowship of the Holy Spirit to help each other...((sigh))... The busyness of life surrounds us...sometimes lonely...sometimes loud....but always together. Joe is well under way with his second year of seminary.  Em is back to the soccer-mill.  Practice twice a week and games on Saturdays.  She had her first game last week and did an awesome job in position of goalie. Nate had his ...

Lesson 599

Nothing really prepares you for this level of change. There are days it feels as if a part of my heart has been ripped from my chest. I am walking around wounded, unwhole, and incomplete.  There are moments that my breath is taken and the sobbing begins before the second hand has time to move. In the post office mailing care packages, standing in the checkout line buying Halloween candy, when a song comes on Pandora that she would have belted out singing, when I spot the dusty piano, when I realize this is the first sports season, ever, that she wasn’t there to see her brother score a goal, when I walk by her bedroom and see all the bits and pieces of the life she left behind, as I plan our first ever big family trip without her, as I think about navigating the holidays and know they will be different from now on. There are days I just want to go back to the moment she was born and do every single second over again, but I’m quickly reminded that’s not the way this works. There ...

Easier Days...

so today...Nate just wants to know if dogs can burp...easy answer...of course they do! We are enjoying the snow and especially enjoy that here in the Sandhills , after a few days of winter wonder land we will be back in the upper 50's. I'm pretty weary of blogging about family illnesses, but Nate is at it again...N&V, diarrhea...lovely. This morning, I mistakenly thought it was over and gave him his normal drink of chocolate milk. I know, it sounds unhealthy...but he got used to the chocolate soy milk and it was a natural transition. I use the syrup with less sugar to make me feel better. Anyway, about an hour later the den carpet and the dog were wearing the milk and Nate has thrown up a few more times since. So, I better go do a little more laundry.
